Creating or Editing an Advanced Bulletin Template

With templates, your designers can create visually interesting and branded templates, which can be used by anyone at your organization when sending a bulletin. This allows your authors and content editors to focus on the subject matter of your emails.

Not only can templates increase the efficiency of your communications team, they also encourage a consistent look and feel for your bulletins. By creating bulletins with consistent branding and design, you can boost your subscriber’s recognition and trust of your communications.

Getting Started with a New Template

There are three starting points for creating an advanced bulletin template:

  • From scratch: Communications Cloud offers a library of stock layouts that you can use to create a custom template.
  • Copy a sample template: We also offer several pre-made sample templates, which you can copy and customize.
  • Copy a custom template: If custom templates have already been created for your organization, you can also copy an existing template to create a similar template with some tweaks.

Before creating a template, take a moment to review the various stock layouts and sample templates we offer. You can find the dimensions of the various stock layouts and images of the sample templates offered by Communications Cloud in the Advanced Bulletin Stock Layouts and Sample Templates article.

When copying a sample template, you can make changes to the background design/image, colors, etc., but editing the theme.

Creating a Template from Scratch

You never have to start from a completely blank slate when creating an advanced bulletin template. Stock layouts allow you to choose a basic structure for your template and then create and fill in all design elements. Before creating a template, take a moment to review the stock layouts we offer in the Advanced Bulletin Stock Layouts and Sample Templates article.

To create an Advanced Bulletin template from a stock layout:

  1. In the left navigation menu, click Templates.
  2. In the Templates menu on the right, click Advanced Bulletins.
  3. Click Create Custom Template.
  4. Make sure the Stock Layout tab is selected on the left side of the screen.
  5. Click the stock layout of your choice.

See Designing Your Advanced Bulletin Template for information on adding design elements to your template.

Creating a New Template from a Sample Template

Communications Cloud provides a variety of professionally styled templates designed specifically for our clients. You can either use these templates as they are, or you can tweak them specifically for your organization. For example, you could pre-populate the template with your organization's banner images and set a color theme for the template.

Before creating a template, take a moment to review the sample templates we offer in the Advanced Bulletin Stock Layouts and Sample Templates article.

To create an Advanced Bulletin template from a sample template:

  1. In the left navigation menu, click Templates.
  2. In the Templates menu on the right, click Advanced Bulletins.
  3. Click Create Custom Template.
  4. Make sure the Sample Templates tab is selected on the left side of the screen.
  5. Click the sample template of your choice.

See Designing Your Advanced Bulletin Template for information on adding design elements to your template.

Editing or Copying a Custom Advanced Bulletin Template

After you have designed and saved a template, you can modify that template at any time. If you want to create a similar template with some tweaks, you can also copy an existing template. Note that template modifications only affect bulletins that are created after the template is changed. If you modify a template, it will not modify bulletins that were created previously (even if the bulletin has not been sent).

To edit an existing template:

  1. In the left navigation menu, click Templates.
  2. In the Templates menu on the right, click Advanced Bulletin.
  3. On the Custom Templates tab, click the template you want to edit.
  4. Update the template.
  5. Click Save changes.

To copy an existing template:

  1. In the left navigation menu, click Templates.
  2. In the Templates menu on the right, click Advanced Bulletins.
  3. On the Custom Templates tab, find the template and click Create a Copy.
  4. Give the new template a name and make your changes.
  5. Click Save changes.
