Offering RSS Feeds of your Message Content

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. These feeds allows users to automatically syndicate content that comes from a predetermined stream. GovDelivery Communications Cloud offers public RSS feeds that clients can make available to website visitors and subscribers.

These include:

  • Account Bulletins RSS Feeds: Feed includes all public bulletins sent from your account. 
  • Topic Bulletins RSS Feeds: Feed includes all public bulletins for a particular topic.

The subject line for each bulletin displayed links to the bulletin's public landing page. By default, these RSS feeds display 20 bulletins at a time.

Account Bulletins RSS Feed

The Account Bulletins RSS feed includes all public bulletins sent from your account, creating an archive of all content sent from your Communications Cloud account. You can either publish this feed on a webpage, allowing website visitors to see bulletins sent from your Communications Cloud account, or publish a link to the RSS feed, allowing visitors to receive content update in their RSS readers.

Setting Up the Account RSS Feed

If you would like to offer an account-level RSS feed, please contact us by submitting a request at the bottom of this page. We will help you set up your account-wide RSS feed. Elements of the RSS feed include:

  1. RSS Feed Title: the title of the RSS feed; displays at the top of the feed and links to the RSS Feed URL.
  2. RSS Feed URL: typically your website; links from the RSS Feed Title.
  3. RSS Feed Description: a short description of your RSS feed.

Linking to the Account Bulletins RSS Feed:

To obtain the link to the RSS feed for your account:

  1. Click your user name in the upper right corner of the site.
  2. From the drop-down user menu, click Account Settings.
  3. On the page menu to the right, click Snippets.
  4. In the Bulletin RSS Tag field, click RSS Feed.

Topic Bulletins RSS Feed

The Topic Bulletins RSS feed includes all public bulletins sent from a specific topic in your account, creating an archive of all content sent from that topic. You can either publish this feed on a webpage, allowing website visitors to see bulletins sent from your Communications Cloud account, or publish a link to the RSS feed, allowing visitors to receive content update in their RSS readers.

Setting Up the Topic RSS Feed

To set up your Topic RSS feed:

  1. In the left navigation menu, click Topics.
  2. Select the topic name.
  3. Scroll to the Public RSS Settings section and complete the:
    1. RSS Feed Title: the title of the RSS feed; displays at the top of the feed and links to the RSS Feed URL.
    2. RSS Feed URL: typically your website; links from the RSS Feed Title.
    3. RSS Feed Description: a short description of your RSS feed.
  4. Click Save.

Linking to the Topic RSS Feed:

To obtain the link to the RSS feed for your topic:

  1. In the left navigation menu, click Topics.
  2. Select the topic name.
  3. On the Area Option toolbar, click Snippets.
  4. In the Bulletin RSS Tag field, click RSS Feed.
